Science Central visited Mrs. Herber’s classroom on Thursday so students could learn about and dissect Spiny Dogfish Sharks.
The kids loved this hands-on learning experience!



"Wacky Hats" created in Art Class

Lakeland Intermediate Art Students were creating wacky hats for their projects in class last week.
Students used their hobbies and interests to incorporate into their hat designs.

Lakeland Intermediate School Robotics Club Showcased

01/15/2020 - Lakeland Intermediate School Robotics Club was being showcased this morning at the LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting.

The WIRED UP team brought their robots and competition board to the showcase to highlight what the robotics team does on a weekly basis.

01/11/2020 - Lakeland Intermediate School is hosted its first robotics competition Saturday January 11. Schools from South Bend, Wakarusa, East Noble, as well as Lakeland Intermediate School competed.

01/08/2020 - Students in Mr Barrand’s 5th grade class measure the dimensions of a variety of rectangular prisms in the classroom to the nearest quarter inch. They then use these dimensions to calculate the volume.



Lakeland Intermediate Spelling Bee

01/09/2020 - Congratulations to our Lakeland Intermediate School Spelling Bee champion, Noah Tropp(left) and runner up, Gavin Kanter. Both of these 6th grade students battled to the 13th round where Tropp won spelling the word “pivot” correctly.

Tropp will represent LIS at the LaGrange County Spelling Bee next week at Prairie Heights. Congratulations to both students for their hard work!

Lunch with the Sheriff

01/10/2020 - Emily Drake (center), Lakeland Intermedia 6th grade student, was treated to lunch with LaGrange County Sheriff Jeff Campos (L) and laGrange County Jailor, Ashlynn Adams (r). Lakeland Intermediate School and Sheriff Campos have worked together to initiate this lunchtime incentive as a reward for positive student behavior and academic achievement.

01/09/2020 - Lakeland Intermediate School 4th grade students participated in Magnificent Machines learning stations led by Science Central today! Students had a lot of fun experimenting and trying to figure out how much force was needed to successfully move the load at each station.
